The scenery was magnificent   2 , Australia, Sep 2011
Very good tour, short, but the scenery was magnificent, staff were excellent and quality of accommodation was first class.
The organisation was impeccable   2 , Australia, Sep 2011
Trafalgar First Class tour of Best of Britain & Ireland Highlights for 8 days was excellent. The organisation was impeccable with tour guide Amy Pomeroy doing an extraordinary job of coordinating our arrivals at accommodation (our room keys were always ready within 5 minutes) and sight seeing destinations to ensure that all available time was accounted ...read more for in this jam packed adventure. Amy ensured travellers were aware of their duties with regard to punctuality etc and this made the trip even more enjoyable as we did not spend time waiting for people who overslept or overstayed at travel stops. Outstanding job Amy! Martin and John our drivers have amazing driving skills. We felt safe in their hands. The accommodation was excellent and comfortable. Thankyou for organising this wonderful tour.
So much fun was had by all   1 , Australia, Sep 2011
I loved the tour. The Tour Director was terrific, couldn't fault him in any way and my fellow travellers were also terrific. So much fun was had by all. Also I would like to thank Yvonne Brooks who was my Travel Consultant. She answered all my concerns and made all my travel plans so much easier without causing any pressure on me. When I decide on where ...read more to go for my next trip, Yvonne will be the one I email. Thank you Yvonne and thank you Trafalgar.
Would certainly use Global Journeys again   1 , Australia, Sep 2011
Enjoyed my tour of Europe and my London week last year with Trafalgar would certainly use Global Journeys again. My tour consultant Yvonne was a wonderful help with any questions or problems I had, which is essential when dealing with someone over the phone or by email, everything went to plan.
The scenery was just spectacular   2 , Australia, Aug 2011
We were very happy with the service provided by Georgie of Global Journeys. The Trafalgar Tour of the Rockies in Canada was really great, both the Tour Director and the Bus Driver were very good. The scenery was just spectacular and the Hotel accommodation was very comfortable. The extra tour options were good and provided some great experiences. We ...read more had a wonderful holiday.
Faultless tour   1 , Australia, Aug 2011
Initially we had a problem with getting our itinerary before the start of the tour. We received it 1 week prior to us leaving. It did take a few phone calls on our part to Yvonne (our tour consultant). Yvonne sorted it out with Trafalgar. Yvonne did finally receive the tour documents along with a letter of apology from Trafalgar Tours for the mix up. ...read more The tour itself was faultless. Everything ran very smoothly. Attractions and the tour director, Anne were great. Accommodation and our bus driver were terrific. I cannot speak highly enough of our bus driver, Virginia. She too was very knowledgeable and so friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Trafalgar Tours and their staff. From rested & relaxed travellers.
A very special tour that well exceeded our expectations   2 , Australia, Aug 2011
We are seasoned travellers who have always organised our travels based on good research where the car has been our main mode of travel. So we approached the Spanish Wonder Tour with a mixture of both apprehension and curiosity. It wasn't long, though, before we became aware of how memorable and special - and all for the right reasons - that this tour ...read more was going to be. Our well-informed, very personable, humorous and extremely helpful and professional guide was enough to ensure a very enjoyable and worthwhile tour. The added bonus, however, of quality local guides and a very pleasant and safe coach driver who provided such a comfortable drive made this a very special tour that certainly well exceeded our expectations. Everything about the tour from the accommodation and group dinners to the scheduled time in the centres visited was carefully organised to guarantee a successful tour for all involved. Well done, Trafalgar.
Well-paced and balanced   3 , Australia, Aug 2011
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was well-paced and balanced; the range of places and both the inclusions and additional activities were excellent. It was good to have options for the additional activities, we took most but chose to skip a couple and enjoyed doing something else instead. With any tour there is always the sense that you would like ...read more to have more time, or more free time, in some places, and that there was always so much more you could do or see, but within the constraints of a group tour with a tight schedule to keep, it was very comprehensive. The group leader and driver were both highly professional, totally reliable, informative and good people to travel with, keeping us fully informed and handling any issues easily in a friendly manner. The accommodation a very high standard and the included meals were very good. We were fortunate to travel with a very pleasant group of people - the group size, at 52, was large, but people (almost all Australian) got on well and without hassles. Obviously this is not always the case. Overall, a very professional, enlightening and comprehensive tour and good value. It might be important to emphasise more in the promotion of this tour that it does NOT include an extensive coverage of New York - a few people expressed disappointment about this and had not taken the advice to book in a few extra days there.
Tour itself was perfect   3 , Australia, Jul 2011
I just wanted to drop you a quick note and thank you for your brilliant service you provided for my most recent tour of the UK and Ireland with Trafalgar! I had an amazing time, the tour itself was perfect and I was extremely pleased with the Tour Director, Peter Lewis. He was a wonderful gentleman, who made the tour so much more satisfying. He had ...read more very detailed knowledge about the history of the United Kingdom and was constantly ensuring all his clients were comfortable and he went well beyond his normal duties as a Tour Director. Paul, our bus driver was also fantastic, he had a brilliant sense of humour and was always more than happy to help and offer advice. He was also a wonderful driver and we all felt very safe and secure with Paul behind the wheel. This is the first time I have travelled with Trafalgar and I now plan to make this the only traveling company for future holidays. In fact, I have already been to your website planning my next holiday in a few months. Words cannot describe how happy I am with Trafalgar, from the staff, to the selection of the hotel and the meals, to the itinerary which was perfectly researched and executed. Along with the 'hidden treasures' and the simple ease of traveling, I could not have asked for a better holiday, they were simply impeccable. Thank you so much Georgie for answering all of my questions so quickly and helping me plan this wonderful trip. I look forward to booking my next holiday very soon with Global Journeys.
A very worthwhile experience and something we will do again   1 , Australia, Jul 2011
Really enjoyed and this was our first experience of touring in a large group by coach. This tour was all go and whist some accommodation locations did not lend themselves to a little more free time, most did. A little more free time might be useful but downside is optional tours cant be missed!! A very interesting cross section of people and ages. Giuseppi ...read more our tour leader was excellent. If only we could have retained all of his commentary? All in all a very worthwhile experience and something we will do again.
We have lots of photos and many happy memories   1 , Australia, Jul 2011
Our first tour experience! The tour through Britain and Ireland was at a fast pace - we covered 2300kms by coach in 8 days but ideal for our interest. The guide and driver were very professional and ensured that everything ran smoothly. We have lots of photos and many happy memories.
A fabulous holiday   2 , Australia, Jun 2011
I have been wanting to tour around Europe for as long as I can remember but at first wasn't too sure about going on my own. It was the biggest holiday I have had but the easiest and totally stress free, even on my own. Thank you to Global Journeys and Georgie for your assistance as it was all very easy to book online and any questions I had were quickly ...read more answered through email. I thought Trafalgar were outstanding - our Tour Director, Bernie, was fantastic. His historical knowledge and general information (very useful) was incredible ... even though I may have fallen asleep half way through, too relaxed! It was so well organised that you didn't have to think of a thing, even down to a 'pee pee' stop! We had a diverse group on the tour from families, single people and older couples but we all blended and it added to the experience. Transfers from and to the airport were great and having a Trafalgar rep at the hotel in London was a real bonus as spoke to him about what I would do in London for a couple of days and it was so very easy to get around with his help. Would totally recommend all the above. I only hope I have the opportunity to do another tour sometime in the future. (Ed: Review based on slightly different itinerary. Thank you for a wonderful tour   2 , Australia, Jun 2011
My touring experience with Trafalgar was unbelievable for one main reason - our Tour Director Brendon Bush - his talk to us at the beginning of the tour of his expectations of the group so that we could get the best out of the tour proved to be the best advice we could receive. By cooperating with the main one (never being late) it made for the perfect ...read more tour as no one was ever kept waiting for inconsiderate passengers. Introducing the concept of our bus being the 'love bus' was a positive outcome for all. By playing the song 'Love is in the Air' as the bus left each morning put us all immediately in a happy mood for the day. If there was any issue with a passenger, he discreetly dealt privately with it and attempted to rectify it as efficiently as possible. Brendon's knowledge of European history and his familiarity with all the places we visited was so impressive and wonderful to share with him. Many on our bus went on to more tours but I heard from 7 fellow passengers that although the next tour was very enjoyable, it wasn't the same without Brendon. My suggestion is that Brendon should be teaching other tour leaders his methods - he certainly has got it perfect after his many years working with bus tours. Our bus driver Marco was a very pleasant and courteous man and excellent driver. It was so good to be in a bus which was so beautifully presented and maintained, although the job was made easier for him as one of the rules was that we never brought hot food on board. Thankyou for a wonderful tour - my first visit to UK and Europe. (Ed: Review based on slightly different itinerary. Trip name and itinerary updated this season)
The 2-night stays were great   2 , Australia, May 2011
Fabulous tour. Tour guide Mhairi was really good - very informative and lots of lovely stories about the history etc of the places we drove through. Bus driver Paul was very friendly and helpful - his driving skills were amazing! I liked the fact that the tour stayed in a place for 2 nights on 6 of the 10 nights. The optional extras were all worth doing. ...read more I will be recommending this tour to all my friends!
Everything ran smoothly, hotels were very good   1 , Australia, May 2011
Many thanks for your help in organising our trip overseas. We had a lovely time and everything ran smoothly. We found Cathay Pacific good to travel with and really appreciated the break en route. We were very happy with the Copthorne Millenium, not least because they had a small refrigerator, a room safe and an ironing board setup in the room. Those ...read more items are just great when travelling and more especially when you have a couple of nights stop over. The location was fairly convenient too. We found South Kensington just up the road probably more central, but the hotels didn't seem to be as comfortable as ours. The Best of Britain tour was lovely. We were very fortunate to have just 22 in our group and to have a great tour leader. A criticism, if any, was that Jurys Inn Hotels were used 3 times and they don't seem to have the refrigerator, safe and ironing board in the rooms - whilst available for the asking, the iron in the room is really appreciated, especially on one night stays. Overall the hotels were very good. We were absolutely shattered on our arrival in Hong Kong on the return journey. The staff at the Holiday Inn, Golden Mile were excellent and offered the option of an upgrade for an additional $180 which offered immediate check-in and late checkout 2 days later, together with the lurks and perks of the upgraded room! On our outward journey, we had booked ourselves into the Regal hotel at the airport. This proved to be a good move as we didn't have to leave the airport and found it was less stressful than if we'd gone into town for such a short period.
Tour pandered to people who aren't up to moving around much   3 , Australia, May 2011
Well this tour certainly covered the highlights and gave a good introduction to England and Scotland. It did dip quickly into Wales, but the one night in Cardiff is exactly that. Unless you forego the optional evening dinner and strike out on your own (as I did - the No. 6 bus takes you right to Cardiff Bay if you're a Torchwood or Doctor Who fan), ...read more you won't even see any of Cardiff, except from the coach window. So it's really a tour that covers parts of England and Scotland. Let me get this out of the way first: I would not recommend this tour to the younger crowd. Although it is billed as an all-ages tour, the average age on the coach was definitely over 65. I'm 30 and found this utterly frustrating at times as it really pandered to people who aren't up to moving around too much or are scared to lose sight of the bus for more than a moment. So, while it is open to people of all ages, it's really probably aimed at retired people. That all said, I settled in as best I could to enjoy the tour and made every effort to explore when possible. Luckily the tour on most days stops for several hours at one place or another, which gives those people like me plenty of time to really explore a place on foot and stretch the legs. So while you don't get to stop and visit everything on the itinerary, you do get to explore a few of them quite thoroughly if you grab a quick lunch on the run and walk, walk, walk. The tour director, Charles, was very knowledgeable on the areas we passed through and their sordid history of religious and political back-stabbing. He also didn't seem phased by anything and was very helpful and caring when some people had a few mishaps along the way. He did occasionally play some music over the bus speakers that was of questionable taste, but that's what iPods are for and the older folk around me seemed to like it. Highlights for me on the tour were St Ives with its Cornish Pasties and beautiful scenery; the Scottish Highlands with their unique landscape and the optional extra of a proper Scottish sheep farm complete with a sheepdog demonstration (something I never would have thought to do on my own); the boat tour of Loch Loman; Edinburgh, with it fabulous castle and Old Town (we had lots of time to explore Edinburgh, which I greatly appreciated); and Bath, with its gorgeous bath house and Tudor architecture. Overall, despite feeling somewhat out of place given my age, the tour gave a wonderful overview of the area and has given me ideas for places I'd like to explore more thoroughly if I ever visit the UK again. At all times, I felt safe and secure, the hotel rooms were all clean and comfortable and the bus driver was top notch (you should have seen some of the streets he negotiated). I can't say I'd have chosen this tour if I knew what I know now, but it wasn't bad either. I think perhaps I'm not a coach tour kinda gal.
A great way to experience coach touring   1 , Australia, May 2011
The tour was better than expected, mainly due to the tour director. Right from that early morning start at the London Coach Terminal, he, Charles Dones, was looking after his group of 44. He made sure everyone was enjoying the tour and nothing was too much trouble. We had 11 full days of sightseeing and things to do, a great way to experience the 'coach ...read more touring' type of travel.
Amazing Europe   1 , QLD, Australia, Apr 2011
I am reviewing this trip 12 years after the event (it's now 6th July 2023!), yet my memory is very clear. My first trip to Europe as a single traveller! An amazing unforgettable journey, meeting new people some experiencing countries for the first time and others seasoned travellers. Patrick was a wealth of information and in-depth knowledge, ready to join in and make our holiday one to remember. At the end of our 3 weeks he sent us a massive number of photos in case we had not captured the image ourselves. Great way to travel for a first time solo traveller   2 , Australia, Jan 2011
Coach tours are a great way to travel for a 'travel virgin' travelling alone. The tours were good and I liked it that the tour wasn't full so I could have 2 seats to myself. It was great to have all the transfers organised and I would definitely like to travel by coach in the future.
