A family business based in Adelaide, Bunnik made a name for themselves in small group touring through Egypt, and now travel to all corners of the globe. All of their trips include return flights to and from Australia, so take this into account when comparing prices with other small group Operators. Bunnik tours have been specifically designed for 'the not too young and not too old' with group sizes set to a maximum of 20, and in Africa even smaller groups of 12. At Back-Roads we have over 30 years’ experience in creating small group tours that focus on forming experiences that immerse our passengers in some of the most incredible destinations in the world. Our dedicated mini-coaches enable us to travel the back roads, avoiding motorways and taking you to the heart of our destinations. We pride ourselves on delivering truly unique travel experiences through expert local knowledge, carefully curated cultural experiences and hand-picked boutique accommodation.
Our tours appeal to those looking for a more relaxing style of travel, and who enjoy culture, good food, meeting like-minded people and exploring destinations in depth. We welcome first-time travellers, but also find that many of our passengers have travelled with us before!
Bunnik Tours is a family business with a focus on crafting itineraries that really get to the heart of all that a destination has to offer through a balance of organised sightseeing, special local experiences and time for independent exploration. We know that some of the best experiences are when you wander away from the group and make your own discoveries.
In creating our small group tours, we are driven by two guiding principles. First, everything we do is about your experience, which is why we only run tours with a maximum of 20 people – that’s less time waiting, more time exploring. Second, when done properly, tourism can be an incredible force for good that generates economic and social benefits in the places we visit.

Really enjoyed this small groups tour through Provence. Albert our guide was great and I learnt a lot from him along with visiting many beautiful towns and villages.
This was a carefree and efficient way to see such awesome natural landscapes. Would have been good to have a half rest day but otherwise a perfect program of travel itinerary.
Fantastic, very full tour. Great driver and very knowledgeable guide. Everyone should visit the Sir John Monash Centre at Villers Bretonneux. What made this tour very moving was that the guide was able to include war cemeteries and locations that had a personal history for people on the tour. Just completed a very enjoyable Back Roads tour from Paris to Nice. Everything was exactly as promised and both the guide and the tour bus were outstanding. Many thanks to Hannah for looking after my booking so diligently and keeping me informed of any adjustments. I will certainly approach Global Journeys the next time I go travelling.
I booked the Backroads Highlights of Britain tour for my 21 year old daughter, who was travelling by herself overseas for the first time. Our Global Journeys rep, Tracey, advised me that most of the people on the tour would be older, and this was good to know so I could discuss this with my daughter. Made aware of the fact, she was still happy to do ...read more the tour as it was a small group tour and went to all of the places in the UK that she wanted to see, and we had heard good things about Backroads tours. The tour leader was probably in her late 20s or early 30s, which definitely helped my daughter to fit in, and she really enjoyed the tour. The other tour group members were very welcoming and friendly, accommodation and food was fabulous and she was blessed with the weather golds, so she enjoyed it immensely. I would definitely use Global Journeys again.
We had a wonderful time on this trip. It included beautiful coastal places, tours through ancient historic sites, excellent accommodation and meals. The tour was well organised with tons to see, do and learn along the way, particularly given the rich history, geography and culinary experiences available in each country. The local guide in Armenia was also very knowledgeable however could enhance travellers experience even further by proactively sharing practical information with the group well in advance (e.g. how long until next comfort stop).
Overall this was a comprehensive, well-paced, safe, scenic tour with a wide variety of experiences on offer. Each church, mosque, monastery visited also offered a unique experience, often with breathtaking views at each location.
TIPS: Bring good walking shoes, there’s a few challenging landscapes to navigate, but totally worth it! There are many (safe to use) bank machines available in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia to withdraw local currency from including via Australian visa cards. Currency rates are often much better locally than, for example, exchanging AUD cash at Dubai airport. Tour guides also provide opportunities to change local currencies at each land border crossing. In Yerevan, Armenia, you can also change various international currencies at the SAS supermarket (close to Hilton DoubleTree Yerevan City Centre hotel).

We really enjoyed travelling with a group of 18 Australians. Our tour guide, Alan, was easy to get on with and he was very knowledgeable. The tour itself was interesting and varied. We particularly like the bus tour except our local tours always seemed to end when the shops were closed for siesta. More time to shop would have been wonderful. Had a great (although fairly tiring) few weeks in Turkiye and Greece with a Bunnik tour. As always, Georgie from Global Journeys did a flawless job of organising everything. The flights home she found for us were amazing. 24 hours from Athens airport to home in Canberra! We'll be back in touch with Georgie soon to lock in our next trip. :)

This trip was quite a pacey one. Well organised and filled with lots of interactive activities. The sushi & noodle making classes were most enjoyable together with calligraphy classes, paper making and visits to sumo exhibition, samurai & tea making exhibitions. So much to see and do. This was an enjoyable tour filled with interesting places, some lovely towns and villages, and great food. The weather was mainly cool with some rain at times. The itinerary was sometimes packed and rushed as there was so much to see. Our driver was outstanding. All in all, a very good tour.
